A study published in the Journal of the International Union of Crystallography is making a lot of people’s skin crawl.
This after the study shows that cockroach milk packs more protein and amino acids than any other superfood.
According to the study, cockroach milk has four times as much protein as cow’s milk. A cockroach forms a rare milk crystal according to the study.
The report stated, "a single crystal is estimated to contain more than three times the energy of an equivalent mass of dairy milk."
"Notably, the crystalline cockroach-milk proteins are highly heterogeneous with respect to amino-acid sequence, glycosylation and bound fatty-acid composition," the study continued.
A CNN affiliate in Houston reports the Pacific Beetle cockroach produces the milk.
