The actress departed Hollyoaks earlier this year, having played unlucky-in-love Esther Bloom since 2011.
Since leaving the Channel 4 soap, Jazmine has dedicated her time to transforming her body, losing over a stone in six months.
The 26-year-old stunned fans when she unveiled her weight loss on her Jazmine Franks Instagram, but what prompted the dramatic change?
In an exclusive chat with Daily Star Online, the small screen siren dished the dirt on just how and why she whipped herself into shape.
Getting candid about her body image, the Brit beauty told us it was a single picture of herself holding a slice of pizza that “triggered” her fitness journey.
Revealing it was a shock to the system, Jazmine said: “A picture was taken at an event that Hollyoaks did with Dominos pizza [the soap’s sponsors].
“Hence why I have pizza in my hand, and I saw it on the website, and I just… I didn’t think I looked like that. I went home and was like, ‘Why has no one told me I look like this?'”
She continued: “I was a bit shocked. People look in the mirror every day, but you don’t really see the changes in yourself.”
Explaining further, she added: “I was just plodding along, I knew I wasn’t the weight I’d like to be, but it was coming up to Christmas, and everyone is wearing baggy jumpers all the time.
“But this one day, I dressed up a bit, put a bit of makeup on and I just thought, ‘You’ve put on some pudding’.”
The picture prompted Jazmine to reevaluate her lifestyle and — determined to lose weight in a healthy way — she transformed her fitness regime and retired her “binging” habits.
She told us: “It’s so easy to lose motivation. I just started by cutting out the chocolates and sweets, but it was Christmas time and they were everywhere.
“It’s so difficult to not pick at things, that was the main thing… I’m an over-indulger, if there’s a cake in front of me, I’d have three slices, until I feel sick, but now I have one slice, no more.”
“I thought, ‘Why has no one told me I look like this?’”
In addition to moderating her sweet treats, Jazmine also made key changes to her gym visits.
The starlet explained: “I just swapped chocolate for fruits and put a bit more cardio into my workouts, because I do more weight-based training.
“At the end of my weights session, I’d go and do 20 minutes/half an hour of cardio, just to give that little bit of an extra push.”
Like anyone, the actress struggled at times: “You have moments where you think, ‘I’ve got family, friends and a boyfriend, and a lovely job, why am I so unhappy in myself?'”
While Jazmine describes leaving Hollyoaks as a “mutual” decision between her and the show, she acknowledges that her newfound free time is a big help to her image overhaul.
The actress said: “Now that I’m not working, I’ve thrown myself into the gym. I understand it’s easier for me than a lot of people, because people have to fit the gym in around their job.
“At the moment, that’s my main priority, that’s my main focus, so I’m finding it a lot easier to maintain.”
And Jazmine — who recently championed her toned body on holiday in Tenerife — is grateful at having found a new passion to fill the hours.
“Coming out of a soap that you’ve been in for so long, you’re kind of institutionalised a bit. You’re so used to doing certain things everyday,” she told us.
Franks continued: “I had friends who left the show, they told me, ‘Keep yourself busy, because otherwise you’ll go insane.’ It’s so scary to be needed in something, and then to be sitting at home doing nothing.”
Admitting the rise and fall of being on TV every week, Jazmine continued: “You’ve got this income, this lifestyle, with Hollyoaks you get to go to all these amazing things that they send you to.
“That just stops when you leave. It’s a bit of a shock. You think, ‘Oh, no one wants me anymore’.
“I was so glad that I knew to throw myself into power-lifting to give myself goals, and that kept me sane.”
