A clinic dietitian shared ideas about how to eat well and overcome eating challenges. Older adults face challenges such as decreased appetite and decreased desire to prepare meals.
"A lot of people don’t get enough protein and that’s a really important one as we age because as we age our muscles tend to deteriorate as well and so we get a lot of weakness which then is associated with more falling. Making sure we’re getting enough protein, especially at breakfast. Whether that might be a couple of eggs to go along with the bowl of oatmeal," Mankato Clinic dietitian Erin Gonzalez said.
